Artist Bio- Dennis Oppenheim was an American conceptual artist, performance artist, as well as a very talented sculptor. Oppenheim was born September 6, 1938 and passed away on January 21, 2011 at the age of 72. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA and an MFA from Stanford. He moved to New York in 1966 to teach art and began his career.

Art Description- Dennis Oppenheim created this upside down church made of steel, glass and concrete. Balancing on its steeple, the church is meant to look like it has been lifted by a terrific force and brought to the site as a method of rooting out evil forces. Many people have found this sculpture disturbing.
